Charice graces the cover of Reader’s Digest Asia

Charice’s inspiring success story makes the cover of this month’s issue of Reader’s Digest Asia. In a story titled “The Making of a YouTube Sensation,” the magazine goes back to her humble beginnings.

From a simple girl of Laguna, joining countless singing contests that include ABS-CBN’s Little Big Star, a lot has clearly changed in the life of this Pinoy international singing sensation after Oprah Winfrey and Ellen Degeneres discovered her talent through the website after a fan uploaded a video of her performance.

Dubbed as “The Little Wonder,” Charice is also compared with Iyaz, the featured artist on her Billboard hit song "Pyramid" and Canadian Teen Sensation Justin Bieber, who were both discovered through YouTube as well.

Charice admits, however, that she’s still in shock with what she has achieved as a singer. She says, “After Little Big Star, I just wanted to study. Then just because of YouTube, in less than three years, so much has happened. It is a bit of a shock and unexpected, but I am very happy.”

But her busy schedule doesn’t prevent her from pursuing a college degree. She’s currently taking up Communications in Southern New Hampshire University.

Charice is the fifth Filipino to grace the cover of Reader’s Digest Asia with Manny Pacquaio, Michael V., Diether Ocampo, and Leah Salonga on the list.
